If you’ve been doing Internet Marketing for a while, you’ve probably heard of the term PLR or private label rights. But what is private label rights (PLR) and how does it vary from other licenses such as master resale rights? Why should you be concerned about the differences?
What is PLR?
When we talk about PLR, we mean that the product, which might be as simple as a collection of articles or as sophisticated as a whole marketing package complete with eBooks and audio content, comes with a license that allows you to use the content any way you please.
Someone else has done the writing (or recording) and maybe created a great website template with sales messages and visuals. Instead of attempting to promote it yourself, make it available for purchase by a large number of others.
PLR comes with a license that specifies exactly what you may and may not do with the bundle. The best PLR has an unrestricted license that lets the new owner edit and use it anyway they want. You can personalize it by adding your name, modifying, and even selling it to others at a price you set. It’s as if you’re the original creator, but you don’t have to do any of the work.
However, most unrestricted PLR may not allow you to resell it as PLR. It pays to look around for PLR and check the conditions in the license. Don’t buy if you don’t like the terms.
Also, if you can grab a snippet of the text, Google it (in quotes) to check how many times it’s been used on the internet before you buy. This will give you an indication of how many people have used this particular piece of content.
Should I Buy a PLR Membership?
Some PLR sites operate on a membership basis, which means that the number of buyers is limited. Others don’t. Membership may provide you with a lot more content, but some of it may not be relevant to you. With a no-membership PLR site, you just pick and choose which niches to purchase so that none of it ends up collecting digital dust.
True unrestricted PLR saves both time and money. For $50 to $200, you can get top-quality, well-designed content that you would otherwise spend endless hours creating or pay a freelancer to do. If you value your time and money, PLR could be the solution.
